About FF

Friday's Footprint is a creative writing project based in Guernsey which supports teenagers who want to publish their writing and artwork. All the island's secondary schools are working together on it (see the Contact page). The project aims to give aspiring young writers on the island the evidence that, even if they may occasionally feel like Robinson Crusoe, they're not alone out there. The College group also meets on a Friday lunchtime - so it helps us to remember where we're supposed to be. Seriously.

Online, FF publishes poems and flash fiction every month or two while also providing new themes to spur on your own writing. Meanwhile, the first printed edition of the Footprint is scheduled for later this year. Local firm Specsavers has kindly agreed to sponsor the printing of the first issue of the magazine: there are also regular prizes awarded for the best poems thanks to Specsavers and the GAC. Who says artists have to be penniless, eh? A summer workshop is also on the horizon, once again thanks to our sponsors.

We've taken a lot of inspiration from UK magazines and, in particular, the little pamphlets promoting the Foyle Young Poets of the Year - hopefully ours will look even better! Follow the links at the bottom of the sidebar to see some of these other great sites... Thanks also to UK poet Caroline Bird who planted the first footprint to follow when she visited the island one fine Friday a couple of years back for the Literary Festival.
