Blackness fell quickly on those dreary days;
Blue sky was smothered, and clouds swept away.
Specks of light shone through that singular shade;
Stars gave me hope, for they should never fade.
Up to those stars I reached out my hand;
Closer I got, and rose further from land -
Soon though they went and left shadow on my face,
Lost with the daybreak, stars never to embrace.
