I sat there
For maybe an hour or so,
Entranced by the vibrant colours
Sprawled across the sky.
First came the shimmering orange,
Dusting clouds in a faint glow.
Then came the delicate pink flush,
Suspended in the sunset light.
A couple of minutes later,
The blue started to spread
From high to low,
Slowly enveloping the rose hue.
After the cobalt blue
Crept into a deep sapphire,
I started to notice radiant lights.
They burned brighter and brighter
Until I was looking up at a sky
Filled by shining stars,
Flickering, contrasting against the fathomless blue.
