There are some great programs out there to help you to build your own stories, some of which are quite new. Inklewriter is a great web client for creating choice-based stories; meanwhile, Inform 7 is a unique programming language which lets you write in natural language. It's been around a few years; however, PlayFic is a new web-based server which allows writers to share these fully interactive stories to the world at large - check it out!
