Sponsor in place: open for submissions!

Friday's Footprint is open for business!

Guernsey's secondary schools are now all back so students are invited to send their poems and/or artwork to us for publication. We're just in the process of confirming who the contact points at your school will be for the year: bear with us - we should have some names up on the site in the next couple of weeks. There will be small cash prizes for the outstanding contributions on the site every couple of months so get writing and have yourself a lunch/CD/taxi ride at our expense come October.

In the meantime, we're delighted to announce that we have secured local firm Specsavers as sponsors for the magazine edition of Friday's Footprint. As a company with vision, Specsavers was our first choice for financial help with what will be a full colour print edition come next year. At the moment, we're scheduling the first magazine to come out in May/June 2012. It will feature the best poems and artwork of the year from all the island's secondary schools. If you're a creative, there's still better news in the fact that there will be two sets of cash prizes valuing £50, £25 and £25 for the best poems and artwork respectively. Who says artists have to be penniless, eh?

Advertising agency Offshore International are also on board to help with the layout and look of the magazine to ensure that your work gets the most professional platform possible when it comes to meeting its public in print. The page and canvas are ready: all that's missing now are your words and brushstrokes...

Feel free to get in touch by emailing: step@fridaysfootprint.com - we'll be checking for new messages in bottles rolling up on the beach every Friday from now on.
